Beautiful Black and Silver ethnic / tribal style / belly dancer / raks sharqui DRESS. Custom made 40 years ago from an authentic Tulle b Telli Shawl. Egyptian Art Deco Assuit (Assiut / Assyut) from the 1920s.Black Linen Tulle Netting embroidered with tiny stamped silver plated metal pieces. Large diamond geometric design - no people or animals - only geometrical shapes. The coins are very light weight and they are made of metal and "ring" or jangle when moved. They are, each one, crocheted onto the seams and arm holes of the dress.
There are several repairs to the side seam but difficult to find due to the lining being the same color. There is also a repair to the edge of one hemline. The lining keeps the repairs from being obvious.
Very difficult to photograph - more photos available upon request. Fully Lined in a soft but very sturdy black viscose. The sides are crocheted together with black and silver metallic thread wool. The coins are individually crocheted along the sides as well. The front hemline has the crocheted dangling coins but the back of the hemline does not have the coins.
The silver metal coins are dull and do not sparkle. They make a gentle sound when moved. The silver metal pieces in the tulle do not "sparkle" - this fabric was hand woven 100 years ago.
